It looks like Alex Tanguay might get the Canadiens jersey number he was hoping for. The Vancouver Province is reporting that a Swedish reporter claims to have been in contact with Mats Sundin, and the reclusive Swede has indicated he would prefer not to sign in Montreal, because of the city's close proximity to and obvious rivalry with Toronto. Sundin has yet to confirm or deny this claim so far, but Montreal Canadiens fans will continue to hold out hope they will see Sundin in a Canadiens jersey at the start of next season. In the meantime, Tanguay is holding off before he officially requests a number 13 on the back of his Habs jersey. Sure, he wants the number, but you've got to think he wants Sundin as a teammate even more.
